According to the US Department of Labor, only 45% of the 62 million salaried and wage earning women participate in retirement plans. This is particularly troublesome given that women also tend to live longer than men. So how did we get here?
Women tend to put family first
Women are more likely to work in part-time jobs that don’t offer retirement savings benefits, or to interrupt their careers to care for their families all together. Because of this, women contribute less to their retirement, leading to a lower level of savings over their lifetime.No Comments »
