About the Author – Layla L’obatti began her love affair with fashion and lingerie long before life carried her to the fashion capital of the US, New York City and the halls of The Fashion Institute of Technology [FIT].
“I remember discovering a pair of my mother’s panties that opened my eyes to what I thought lingerie should look like. In helping her put away her clothes one day I came across something that I did not realize would influence me in the future. It was this lacy white thong, that was so delicate and beautiful, yet she had never worn it! All I ever saw her in where typical “mom” underwear, and I just remember thinking…’when I grow up I want to wear that!’ Funny how things work out, I’m not only wearing it but I’m designing it.”
At FIT Layla was inspired to create an event, which would become an avenue of expression for young designers like her. Thus Between the Sheets Fashion Show was born. The event grew with an underground cult following fed by the energy and verve of New York City. BTS thrived as a virally marketed show. Within three years, the show tripled the number of participating designers, models, and fans.
Upon graduation Layla worked in the industry for almost two years. It was at D2 Brands where she worked on the relaunch of Tommy Hilfiger Intimates and relative newcomer Tra la la. During these experiences, Layla refined her vision of what intimate apparel meant to her. Leaving to branch out on her own, she pursued the Between the Sheets dream again.
Layla created two collections Between the Sheets Collection and Layla L’obatti for Between the Sheets. With her concept for each of these brands having different customer profiles and price points, she designed two unique lines that debuted at Curve Lingerie show this August and which will be in stores starting spring 2010.
Alongside Between the Sheets, Layla is also the Intimate Apparel Fit Specialist at Freshpair.com. She writes for their blog and has the privilege of imparting her extensive knowledge of intimate apparel to their customer service representatives and shoppers alike.

That was a fun read.
Sorry to see that there’s not a personality type listed for sports bras, though… but I like the sports bras they’re selling.
Now that was definitely interesting. It was intriguing to see how the ‘girls’ were classified and characterized.
lol.. I’m a balconette type girlie myself. I’ve always worn that style since I was old enough to buy my own rather than wear the ’sensible, supportive’ bras that my mother would buy for me.
I never even heard of a balconette until you mentioned it and then I looked for the picture in the ad.
Is it comfortable?
