TrekDesk to Relieve Stress
“Stress is inevitable given the current economic events in the United States but there are literally steps that can be taken to reduce the stress levels while positively impacting health and productivity. Treadmill desks allow our bodies to recoup from the potential physiological dangers of stress, boost our mood and immune systems and allows us to fight another day,” states Steve Bordley, President of treadmill desk manufacturer TrekDesk, available this coming Spring.
A survey conducted by Yale University, prior to the current economic meltdown, showed that 26% of workers rated their job as extremely stressful. Concerned employers are keenly aware of the cost of stress on American business which has been estimated by OSHA at $300 billion annually, three times the cost of obesity.
“Walking is one of the best relievers of stress however when workers are already pushed for time planning for exercise actually adds to stress levels by becoming one more task in the que,” according to Bordley.
Solution? Exercise must be consistent, automatic and easy to incorporate into the work day. Treadmill desks offer a consistent means of daily moderate exercise without requiring additional time during the day to head for the gym or plan a workout.
The physiological effects of walking also reduce stress as proven in a study published in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine indicating regular, moderate exercise significantly reduced stress levels when compared against study participants who did not engage in an exercise program or, surprisingly, participated in strenuous exercise regimens.
With a recession expected to increase the stress levels of Americans well into the first quarter on 2009 it is reassuring to know that TrekDesk will be there to help fight the inevitable.

Thanks for dropping by!
It is madness, I haven’t got time to bother with something like that at work. I would be so cross if my company gave me a desk like that!
Very smart. I can see it becoming the latest must have accessory for the harrassed executive!
It says affordable, wonder how much that means?
Could you imagine if your company did really give you a desk like that? It is unique and I can see the benifits but would much rather go outside for a walk at lunchtime.
It is certainly unique, it looks uniquely uncomfortable! It may be nice for a bit of fun but I don’t think it would be appropriate in a work environment.
i don’t think it is intended as fun though Kernow, but i agree it is very unlikely to catch on widely.. Probably costs more than most firms will pay out for the slave labour…
I rather doubt it would meet all the health and safety rules that companies have to comply with. I think it must be just a gimmick
Hehe Love it! The looks and thought of it, that is. Personally I think I’d probably use it for maybe an hour and then tire of it, though.
Can’t find a price at their website and the “store” part doesn’t even seem to be online yet.
yeah but that is only because you are lazy like me Katharina! think it would be quite funny to buy one of these for all our company directors and have them slaving away while they answer emails…
yeah yeah i believe you.. (thousands wouldn’t)
I agree focusing on work while you are jumping about on a treadmill will be next to impossible…
When I workout with our treadmill, I have music playing or an IPod headset on my head. Music I can deal with, but if it would be even reading a book (I’ve tried!) I wouldn’t be able to concentrate.
I like stav’s idea of getting one for all the company directors I think they would be horrified!
