Issey Miyake – Summer Quarters
Guest designer Philippe Galowich interprets Miyake’s world through colourful, structured graphics. The bold letters on the transparent bottles reveal the hues of the garden, while the white boxes tell a lyrical architectural story. The seasonal scents, both created by Jacques Cavallier, perfectly and poetically express this new landscape.
In the L’Eau d’Issey Summer Eau de Toilette ($62.00), rosewater unites with pear to create a frosty shiver with acidic overtones. Peony and carnation underscore the composition’s floral brilliance, while osmanthus and precious woods enhance the refreshing trail.
In L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Summer Eau de Toilette ($57.00), stimulating, icy zests of yuzu and mandarin orange explode against the shadows of cardamom and aromatic sage. This fresh, edgy dynamic is balanced and tempered by notes of moist vetiver and delicate ambergris.
Jean Paul Gaultier – A Gaultier Garden of Eden
The fragrance world’s most famous couple, CLASSIQUE and LE MALE revel amid a garden of earthly delights. This year, they are joined by a warm-weather version of his precocious new ingenue, MA DAME. New, lighter formulas make these fragrances perfect for summer.
In the CLASSIQUE 3.3 oz Alcohol-Free Summer Fragrance ($62.00 USD), rose flirts with orange blossom, clementine and Sicilian lemon. A floral bouquet of Arabian jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley and white iris blooms in the middle notes. The heady base notes feature an accord of vanilla absolute, fresh musk and amber.
The LE MALE 4.2 oz Stimulating Body Spray ($57.00 USD) is enriched with mint, ginseng and ginger water. Refreshing agents create an icy effect – a cocktail of pure energy.
Finally, the “MA DAME” 3.3 oz Summer Edition Eau Fraiche Spray ($62.00 USD) is a soft, floral summer fragrance reminiscent of the MA DAME eau de toilette. An orange zest, a hint of grenadine and a touch of raspberry and pink grapefruit create a burst of summer freshness.
All fragrances are available in May, at Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Sephora stores nationwide.
Beaute Prestige International was created in 1992 to augment Shiseido’s fragrance business with the development of new designer fragrance brands. Beginning with Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey in 1992, the company has slowly and steadily built its brand portfolio to include French designer Jean Paul Gaultier’s CLASSIQUE (1993) and American designer Narciso Rodriguez’s ‘for her’ 10 years later. In 2006, BPI USA was selected to administer the sales and distribution of the John Varvatos fragrance and skincare brands, an existing Shiseido subsidiary. Today, Beaute Prestige International’s fragrance brands can be found in fine department and specialty stores nationwide.

Can’t wait for summer!
I love perfume and reading about new fragrences makes me want to dash out to try them.
One of my new Christmas traditions is asking for a lot of new perfumes. There are places that sell smaller bottles than full-size, but many of them are a lot larger than I had expected.
Finding new scents that I like is a really fun thing for me to do and I plan to keep it a tradition.
I tend to stick with two or three old favourites, I am not very adventurous
I’ve been pretty lucky so far with the smaller bottles of the designer perfumes. I’ve only hit two or three that I didn’t like… so my daughter ended up with them and *does* like them.
I love perfume and will try everything new. I have worn Gaultier and Issey before so i know they are usually good. There are one ortwo i awlays go back to, but like to wear different ones.
I like the idea of collecting little bottles of good perfume, I think I will take up Katherina’s idea.
