I think her mother contrived the engagement, I certainly don’t think it was done for the benefit of the daughter, it had to look good during the campaign.

I would not be surprised if this was just said because her Mom was campaigning to keep the pressure off of her and her daughter about being an unwed mother.

Kernow, I agree with you. Sarah Palin’s daughter didn’t choose to be in the spotlight. She should be left alone to sort out her problems.

I don’t think it is good for anyone to make a bad situation (unplanned pregnancy) worse by encouraging the young people involved to marry when they are not ready or possibly not a goo match.

I think the ‘engagement’ was on the orders of her mother’s campaign machine. Now that she has sunk back into obscurity, it is conveniently dropped.

Their commitment to getting married was expressed during the election campaign, so maybe it was no more than the “right” thing to say at the time.

I think that she is showing her maturity by not jumping the gun and marrying someone just because they have a child together. I feel she is getting a bad rap from the press.
