Trends have long defined the fashion world. However, they are now permeating aspects of daily life well beyond our wardrobes. FineStationery.com — the preeminent voice in the customized stationery industry — has identified just a few fabulous stationery trends for 2009 with deep roots in designer runway shows.
The Layered Look
Stripes with polka dots. Paisley and geometric shapes. These trends have been seen throughout 2008 on runways. Now, they are the hottest stationery trend for 2009, with mixed motifs being featured on pieces as elegant as wedding invitations to those as casual as thank you notes.
Chocolate-Dipped Fruit
Think lime, plum or candy apple red, with a sweep of rich chocolate brown. This trend sends the message of sophistication, with a wink.
Black, White & Bring a Friend
Formality with a flash of color, the height of elegance without being too staid. By adding a third, unexpected hue to the traditional black and white scheme, this color palette gives a vivacious nod to class.
Honoring Mother Earth
Reduce, reuse, recycle, RSVP? Whether made from recycled materials or produced in an eco-friendly manner, your stationery can express commitment to a greener earth, without sacrificing personal style.
“With striking color combinations and rich textures, stationery itself can communicate an individual’s class and whimsy,” said Karen Gilliland, Chief Marketing Officer for FineStationery.com. “Style savvy consumers are embracing the possibilities to communicate modern style through the timeless tradition of paper correspondence.”

Great selection of stationary and party products. This is one site to bookmark.
Beautiful and unique color combinations.
These are great ideas for gift giving. Have you done all of your shopping yer?
The new trends for this year sound lovely, especially the chocolate dipped fruit look. I like brown but it hasn’t been fashionable for a while now I hope it catches on.
I need some new stationery and I also want to find some all-occasion cards, so I’ll be loading up this website in a day or two. I need a bunch of blank cards, too.
Very cool especially for special occasions and such. I have already sent this to a friend of mine planning her wedding and it might be cheaper than what she was looking at. Also some of those would be nice for simple cards.
SageMother, now that Christmas has come and gone…. the answer is no, I did not get all my christmas shopping done!
We waited until the last moment and the last three days before Christmas we had a snow dump of about 25″ so there was no going to the mall for me to pick up anything!
Thanks goodness for the internet and gift cards!
Nancy, did anybody say chocolate????
I was given a box of macadamia nuts with chocolate cover and I’ve been contemplating munching on it ever since I woke up this morning!
I am one of those odd people that isn’t fusseed about chocolate. I much prefer fruit or nuts as they are, not covered in chocolate.
Chocolate is my passion… any and all chocolate.
Well, milk chocolate that is. Diva, you actually got chocolate as a gift and still had some left on the first of January?! Would have never made it that long around here!
