How to Deal With Facial Hair…
I usually stand in the mirror and pluck, ( with a couple of glasses of wine). I am afraid to wax because I don’t want that lighter skin color I get when I get my brows waxed. Being a woman of color I think that would look quite odd.
I usually Nair mine away. I’m a very rosey pale person with dark brown hair and boy oh boy, do those stray hairs stick out!
I just tweeze, since I only have a few so far.
I share your concern, Debo Hobo, but when the time comes I think I will wax with great abandon, and use makeup to even out my skin tone.
If there’s a makeup that will do that for you, that sounds like a good idea, SageMother. Would you prefer salon waxing or self waxing products?
Debo Hobo, I don’t really wax either because my face is just too sensitive for it and my threshold for pain is really, really low.
I usually put orajel around the areas that I am going to pluck because it kills the nerves and I get around the pain…..
But, I did have a little eyebrow plucking marathon one time after I had a couple of beers, and let’s just say my left eyebrow never really grew back the right way afterwards.
My skin is also very sensitive. I waxed my eyebrows once and my skin broke out so bad afterward.
I just pluck my eyebrows and try to keep up with it so I don’t have to do a lot at once.
Tinystar, for some strange reason, Nair doesn’t work as well for me when it comes to small little hairs.
The thing to watch for with Nair is that if it stays on too long, it can start burning. I tried Sally Hanson recently and it was nice and thick… and the smell was much better.
SageMother, I’ve given up on getting my skin tone smooth. I’ve decided I’m going to get professional help this weekend to get some laser treatment done.
At least, that way, I can get it over and done with!
Katharina, I prefer to go to the salon to get my legs waxed whenever I get the chance.
It’s more of an r&r for me…. away from the computer, other people doing things for me….
thankfully i dont have to deal with them that much…as face is pretty smooth…:)
I just use tweezers and endure the discomfort. My skin is too sensitive to use chemicals on my face. I would rather have the odd stray hair than a nasty rash on my face.
Katharina,
I think I will do my waxing at home, but will buy product from Sally’s!
