Some parents skip this process when raising sons, instead of developing that part of the psyche associated with empathy. We need to have this developed in our young men. I don't have kids either, but that's something that I can keep in mind for the future. I must admit that date rape happens more often than we think and I, myself, have a couple of bruises from events that could have turned out more dangerous. We don't want to paralyze them with fear, but simple things can really help keep you safe, like having designated cell-phone check in times and (for college kids) only drinking when you have a girlfriend along and commit to go home together.
