Strenuous Exercise Is Bad For The Joints
People who are overweight and obese usually have problems with their joints so they are advised to shed some pounds first before running or performing strenuous exercises. However, they can still perform other forms of exercises that can help them trim down extra fat. Several minutes of brisk walking and doing low impact exercises will often do the trick. Furthermore, weight training is important because strong muscles help strengthen the bones. Thus, not exercising because of fear of endangering the joints is just a lame excuse for people who simply do not have the conviction to be healthy and stay slim.
Complete 100 Crunches For A Flatter Tummy
You might have heard celebrities claiming to perform 100 or more sit-ups or abdominal crunches before shooting a sexy revealing video or a scene that requires baring some flesh. In reality, these stars do not only do these crunches, but also scanty diet and other high intensity workouts.
If you want to get rid of your beer belly, you need to do much more than 100 sit-ups. You need to start watching what you eat, do high-impact exercises, and squeeze in weight training to at least three days a week.
Exercise Should Be Done In The Morning
There are many people who think that they can only benefit from exercise if they performed it in the morning. Although there are some who really prefer exercising in the morning, you can actually exercise anytime you want. In fact, it is much better to schedule your gym visits to a time that is most convenient for you so that you don’t have to be in a hurry to finish your sets. The key to successful exercise plan is consistency. For example, if you start to perform your weight-loss exercise program in the afternoon, it would be best to do succeeding sessions in about the same time of the day so that exercising will become a habit.
Lifting Weights Can Give Women Very Muscular Body
Body builders, both men and women alike, end up with big muscular body because they wanted to. They lift very heavy weights and train very hard to achieve their chiselled body. However, not all weight training programs can lead to big muscles. If you do not want to accidentally have biceps like Popeye, then you need to tell your trainer or gym instructor what you want to achieve. These people are trained and certified fitness instructors so they know what program and weights to give you in order to achieve your goal.
Skip Carbs In The Evening To Shed Pounds
No matter what time of day you eat, you are likely to continue gaining weight if you eat a lot, particularly unhealthy foods. There are really no studies to confirm if the habit of eating nothing after six in the evening can burn more fat.
However, some people really lose weight when they eat early dinner and skip midnight snacking because they end up eating less. Thus, if this should work for you, then go ahead and do this diet plan. Just make sure that you still reduce your intake of sugar-rich foods.
If you have been having a hard time losing weight, you can always couple your weight-loss training program with some diet aids, such as Zylorin. If you want to know about this product, go to http://www.zylorin.com/.

Thanks for dropping by!
I always believed the 100 crunches one until I started watching that Facelift show… and they said it wasn’t possible to lose the belly like that!!
Extreme Makeover it the show I was thinking of!!
If crunches are done improperly, raising the torso completely off the floor, you end up building bulk in the area, but then that is true of any load bearing exercise that focuses on the mid section.
I would think that some of the Pilates movements might be more effective in flattening as they are not large movements, but small and focused.
I have realized over the last three months that there really isn’t any good excuse for not losing weight. Through a healthy well balanced diet and regular exercise (5x wk) I lost twenty pounds and these pounds will stay off because I didn’t follow some fad diet that require the elimination of a certain food group.
The only reason a person can’t lose wait is due to laziness and the lack of will power and desire. Harsh! Perhaps but it’s the truth!
This is a good list. I often use an excuse on days when I feel too lazy to really get up and work out. I always still know the truth though.
Good advice when it comes to losing weight. I always eat early dinner and try very hard not to eat anything after that dinner.
When it comes to exercise timing, though, I’m one of those people who prefers morning very highly. It’s not only much more convenient for me, but feels a lot better, too.
Debo,
I can understand your sentiments, but there are health conditions and medications that will prevent weight loss for many reasons.
For many, the desire is there, but their medical situation doesn’t support it.
I have to agree with SageMother here… for most people I agree that there’s no excuse, but there are some who simply can’t do it for whatever reason.
Some are not able to do the physical exercise, and then there are health reasons why it wouldn’t be wise to lose weight at the moment, too.
We always hear to ask the doctor before starting any weight loss program. That’s because it is not safe for some people to go on any kind of diet at the moment.
I know that I became a gym rat for a while to control my chronic pain, and then my pain got worse. No more gym.
Then I Belly danced. The isolated muscle movements helped me avoid causing myself pain, and it was good to dance. Then my pain got worse. No more belly dancing.
Now, if the temperature is 40 or above, I can do a two mile walk. Not a fast sort of thing, but a walk.
Even though I was in fairly good shape, exercise has become a “should you really do this?” sort of thing. LOL!
Be sure to always ask your doctor and honor your body’s messages as they are there for a reason!
BTW, belly dance is great exercise….you should try it!
There are definitely people who have medical issues that prevent exercise, but this was inspiring to me because I know that I have no excuse.
Yes okay maybe they can’t exercise but they sure can eat less. Weight loss is achieved through consuming fewer calories then you burn. They know if they are “couch potatoing” it then they can’t sit there and eat the whole time.
Sorry if I sound harsh I just get tired of hearing the excuses when I am in the gym. I train a class and the ladies actually expect me to slow the class down because they can’t keep up. I am not going to have the remainder of my students suffer because one or two individual refuse to put forth their best effort.
One of the things I don’t like about excuses is when people say that they can’t exercise to lose weight, and they get surgery instead. I just don’t see how people don’t understand that it’s a lifestyle change, not just a physical change.
I know what you mean, Jewel. It’s not a hard concept, but yet people want a quick fix where there will be no “work” involved. It just never works out that way when we try a bandaid solution.
SageMother… good advice, but I just had a good giggle thinking of myself trying to belly dance. I think I’d need more coordination first.
And also let me be clear, I am not referring to those with obvious physical handicaps or affliction. I am referring to those of us that stand in the mirror, grab a fist full of gut fat and say to ourselves “I wish” I could look like so and so, Or “I wish” I could get rid of this fat. Then they head to the fridge to emotionally binge eat etc.
It is difficult to understand physical and medical disabilities until you develop one.
It isn’t obvious to the casual observer, and cutting down or changing what one eats doesn’t necessarily make the afflicted appear more slender or more fit.
Here’s a question.
When you see someone with a handicap placard, do you get upset when they park in the handicap spot , but look fine when they get out of their vehicle?
SageMother - I am not in the business of judging anyone so if the placard is on the vehicle it does not matter to me who gets out of the vehicle. And as I stated earlier I am refering to those of us that have no excuse other than laziness. And I guess we know who we are….
Taylor Blue, you know what I found to be the best way to lose the gut? Neoprene waist bands!
For the people who say spot reducing is not possible, then they have not tried exercising and using the band. I have lost so much water weight in my mid section, it’s unbelievable….
Taylor Blue, I am also a big fan of Extreme Makeover!
One day, I was watching it and I saw my sister because her friend was chosen to do the makeover. It was kind of cool!
SageMother, Pilates definitely is a great way to lose the midsection.
Even with yoga, unless you focus on your breathing in and out during your crunches, you can end up with an unsightly pouch on your tummy.
The only thing about Pilates is that I find it so hard to hold some of the slow poses.
Debo Hobo, I agree with you.
A person can only lose as much weight as they are motivated to do so.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people sit and whine about how much weight they have gained. Week in and week out, I hear the same story from the same person. In the meantime, they don’t do anything about it.
Ummm, it’s not going to just happen miraculously you know. I have lost over 60lbs in the last 5 years and I have maintained it. If I didn’t mak myself go go the gym and eat foods I don’t even like, I wouldn’t be here today.
More often then not it just takes an effort:)
Jewel, isn’t it always….. excuses is the best way out when you are feeling pooped.
I use it *all* the time too.
Katharina, what I find the hardest in my diet experience, is being able to stay away from snacking after dinner.
Especially, when I don’t sleep until 1AM….
There’s so much time in between 7PM and 1AM that I need to start locking my fridge. Or something.
SageMother, that’s true. There are a lot of medications out there that will make you actually gain weight.
I guess we all have to be healthy and we have to weigh our options on how we can get to the best optimal weight.
I was on asthma medication when I was younger and the extra hormones made me gain weight.
Katharina, if you are planning to lose a consirable amount of weight, your first stop should be the doctor …. and you are right about that.
Some people just don’t have an excuse. But there are some that are just not able to. It all comes down to what is the biggest priority when it comes to our health.
SageMother, I would *love* to learn how to belly dance except there are so few classes available in our city that they are so packed you can’t even see the instructor!
I was thinking of taking hawaiian hula dancing because I hear that is also very good exercise. Have you tried it before?
I too would love to take a belly dancing class. I especially would like to wear one of the belly dancing hip scarves..I found this site that sells them. I may just buy one for the heck of it…LOL:)
http://www.atlantabellydance.com/store/HipScarves.html
Jewel, motivation also comes with good weather. A simple walk around the block can really be good for your health. Except, with all this crazy weather we’ve been having…. it seems a long ways away until it becomes sunny and warm.
Debo Hobo, I think one of the biggest mistakes most people when it comes to personal fitness is signing up for classes that is beyond their capability.
Not only does it slow down the pace for everyone in the class, it is also not good for your health.
The first thing trainers and doctors tell you when you start a fitness is to stop if you are feeling out of breath. Then, they will also recommend that when this happens…. to lighten the intensity of your workout.
Many people forget to take a look at a gym during the time they would be most likely to use it, before they sign up for a class or membership.
They stop by the gym on an impulse, see that it ie relatively quiet and decide it will be comfortable, then stop by after work for a work out only to find they have to wait in line to use equipment. Discouraged, they let the membership lapse, skip the class, and don’t start their fitness program.
Always go to a gym at the time you would be most likely to use it. This way there are no surprises, and no excuses.
Jewel, I think it should be mandatory that people who are taking drastic steps to do optional weight loss surgeries should go through conselling first to see if they are emotionally and medically ready to go for this change.
Technology gets better day by day that the risk of getting fatal side effects from these surgeries are a small ration, but still, this is a lifestyle change and not just changing the color of your hair.
Katharina, think of all the sexy costumes you can wear if you started belly dancing.
My girlfriend went out on a first date with a man she just met and I asked her how it went, and she said *i showed him my belly dancing outfits and he just absolutely loved it*.
Hmmmm…..
Debo Hobo, it’s like everything else in life…. you have to work at it to make it work and to achieve a certain level of satisfaction. America’s obesity problem is getting out of hand and the ratio for handicapped or afflication is really small percentage. So, I know you are not talking about that at all.
A friend of mine once asked me why I don’t try to help out another girlfriend lose weight since I lost so much already, and I said…. she’s not going to lose the weight if she spends more time complaining about it instead of doing something about it.
We all have the best intentions, but if we don’t even try to execute it, how can we expect other people to do it for us?
SageMother, I don’t think Debo Hobo was referring to people with disabilities when she made that comment.
In general, when the world looks at the obesity problem, they talk and survey the healthy normal human beings whose current weight could potentially be a danger to themselves.
Even Dr. Atkins the originator of the Atkins diet died a heavy man because he was sick.
Debo Hobo, I have to say I busted my *ass* to work off the 60lbs I gained after I turned 30. It was no walk on the park, and pretty much thought I was never going to make it.
There is hope for everyone who wants to lose weight. They just have to put together a plan and move with it.
Debo Hobo,
Those cabaret/fantasy costumes are nice, but don’t reflect the range of actual garb worn for the dance, which gained its common name for the fact that the torso is allowed movement, not because the belly is exposed.
Debo Hobo, I dance salsa so I have a couple of those hip scarves that you are talking about!
SageMother, plus people do not have your standard 9-5 lifestyle anymore and I know some who have signed up for gyms with hours that do not work for them.
SageMother, I didn’t know that!
That’s good to know if I ever get myself into a belly dancing class one of these days.
