There’s hardly any talk in the world of celebrity news about Lindsay’s charity work, but if you dig deeper beyond all the media’s hype, you will find that she has supported Angelwear, One Campaign and Save The Children in the past as reported by Look to the Stars. Now, she’s using her celebrity status towards spreading the word about the social and emotional impacts for those with hearing loss.
Joining Lindsay are other mega stars like Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Annie Lennox, Placido Domingo, Moby and Smokey Robinson. “Inspired by the initiative’s goals as well, the musician Bryan Adams agreed to become the official photographer, photographing the initiative’s ambassadors for the awareness campaign.” And might I say that he’s not such a bad shot! Photographs can be viewed at the initiative’s website – http://www.hear-the-world.com/botschafter.htm.
So how can we, as ordinary everyday people, help?
You can start by subcribing to Hear the World Magazine. The fifth and latest issue features Annie Lennox on the cover and read about the artist who has been described as “the greatest living white soul voice”. You will also find other interesting articles inside the magazine like “Our cities stink acoustically”, “Hearing screening for children” or “Klajnk! The Stockholm Music Museum”.
Purchase Hear the World’s 2008 Calendar of celebrities photographed by Bryan Adams for $27.99 because all net proceeds from each sale will go towards worldwide projects related to hearing that is supported by the foundation.
After watching a video on how the world sound like for people with hearing loss, I am counting my lucky stars that I have been blessed with good health.

Thanks for dropping by!
It is always good when these very public celebrities give us something good to talk about!
I think Lindsay is just gorgeous!
Hi Sharon, thanks so much for dropping by my site. It was great to see you there. Have a good day dearie!
My six year old was diagnosed with hearing loss last year. Right now he doesn’t need hearing aids but there is a good chance that he will in the near future. I have looked into this more since this and it is sad that hearing aids are something that my son might need to help him especially in school and we might not be able to afford them. Insurance doesn’t cover them. I will find a way to get them when needed but it won’t be easy to fit this in our bills. I am glad to see someone bringing more attention to this.
It IS good to have the music business involved in this campaign. There are those hearing issues that are present at birth, but then there are other problems associated with hearing loss, that are based on constant or loud noise.
There was a time when rock stars performed on stage, with those huge speakers blaring, creating hearing problems after a while. I know that My listening to my head phones has probably created some hearing loss.
Oh well!
It’s good to actually see famous people actually do something good for a change …

Trick-r-treat, they should be talked about more often and there should be more visibility for all the good works they do.
Hi Marzie!
Thanks for dropping by…. we haven’t chatted in ages.
I know, she’s quite pretty and I’m glad that things are going really *hot* for her in Hollywoodland.
Tater03, my heart goes out to you and your family.
There really should be some things that should be covered by medical and I think hearing loss should be one of them.
I am sure that as he grows older the pieces that he might require will be expensive. Hopefully, before then, someone would have found a cure for existing illnesses.
SageMother, I have recently become a fan of Dancing With Stars.
Deaf actress Marlee Matlin was just voted off, but I just can’t believe that she can dance like that and she can’t even hear the music!
Wow, I don’t even dance half as good as she does and I can hear the music!
Oh Nick…. I’m sure they all do, but the world doesn’t really like to hear about it.
I hope a discussion about the signs of hearing loss in children, gets a little more attention.
Sometimes a child goes years before people notice little problems, like not pronouncing the beginning or ending sounds of words, or mispronunciations that indicate sound is garbled for the listener.
