Thanks for dropping by!
very nice relaxation video. going to start giving that a try daily!
I read a study a few years back, saying that people in the USA take extremely shallow breaths, where in other nations, people breathe deeper.
This is probably because we are taught the stomach is to be flat, so we breathe in the chest instead of from the belly and diaphragm, as we are meant to.
IT would be nice if deep breathing exercises translated into proper, belly breathing at all times. We would be more relaxed and probably healthier for it!
Great video. I had never heard that people in the US tend to breath more shallow than other nations. That is very interesting.
I usually try to stop a few times an hour and take several deep breaths. I bet most people don’t pay attention to how they feel when they create a few relaxation moments every hour.
That’s really interesting, SageMother, I had no idea. It’s interesting how we learn those types of things (breathing a certain way) without even realizing it.
I love to practice breathing exercises. It is so relaxing and invigorating also.
Yoga is a wonderful to help create breath awareness, as is Tai Chi.
I would like to start breathing exercises. I feel like I’m breathing way more shallow than I should be. I just don’t know where to begin.
Being aware of time helps when trying to incorporate periods of deeper breathing. You can start with setting a timer to remind you once an hour.
I bet once you become more aware of stopping to take a few deep breaths, you will stat noticing other things about stress and how it affects you.
I’m trying to be more aware now after reading this and you’re right… nice deep breaths feel SO much better!
I like the timer idea. I think that by incorporating a timer I can make it more of a regular thing, or at least I hope so!
SageMother, could be because of the *smog*….
The Cosmetic Counter,
Thanks for dropping by!
Sometimes we forget that we also need to take a couple of minutes away from the rat race to keep ourselves healthy!
SageMother, I don’t think people even schedule a time to just *breathe*!
We get so consumed with going here and going there. Pilates, girls night out, men…. whatever else that consumes our lifestyles that we just don’t take a moment to slow down and breathe.
Jewel, me too!
I didn’t know that either.
EviesEarth, I’ve always wanted to do TaiChi.
There’s a park right across the street from my condo and a group holds Saturday morning TaiChi classes.
It looks kind of neat actually. I just watch for now, but maybe someday I’ll bring out my workout clothes and join.
Jewel, you can start by watching the video above. And I believe at the end of the video there is a link to view more breathing videos.
Or you can just search youtube. I know this came in a series.
SageMother, it is very important to take the time out to just relax and breathe.
I really like the idea of setting the timer.
I think I will start probably with setting my timer to wake up 15 minutes earlier than normal to start my day with breathing exercise to see how my day changes because of that.
Katharina, maybe that’s what’s really *WRONG* with this world!
LOL!
Jewel, Oh, I just can see the revolution of the timing clocks in sync….
Maybe we can have it all timed to go off like that new Walmart commercial.
