Thanks for dropping by!
I have heard that this system does really work but to me it just seems expensive. Has anyone had any luck with keeping the weight off after you’re done with this system?
I didn’t try Nutrisystem but did try Jenny Craig. I assumed they were similar. I have been pretty good about keeping weight off, even though I weigh more than I did at the end of my Jenny Craig experience.
my mom tried this… I want to try it too
Linked you up!
Thanks!
I did NutriSystem a number of years ago. It was great to know what I’d be eating and to have it stocked up like that. There were a few things that I didn’t like the taste of, but I just knew I could custom-choose the food next time and I’d pick something different.
Tater03, Nutrisystem is no more expensive than signing up for other weight loss food program plan.
If you really think of all the amount of money you spend on food on a weekly basis, especially when you know that you are not eating the right food… the expense is really nothing compared to the benefits you get.
SageMother, I personally have not tried Nutrisystem either. I’ve gone on Jenny Craig’s food program and Weight Watchers.
I just found that Jenny Craig’s food was a little bit bland and I couldn’t find the time to keep up with Weight Watchers meeting.
I heard that you can do Weight Watchers on line now. I would pick this route as I like to cook my own food. It teaches you to use portion control as opposed to having it already done for you. I also like to know what I am eating.
Back when I was trying NutriSystem, I would have liked to try Jenny Craig food, too… but I couldn’t order it online like I could the NS food, and I was able to pick and choose what I wanted from NS.
Is Jenny Craig food available online now, or do users still have to pick it up somewhere?
Janus, thanks for dropping by!
I’ve got you a link love coming up.
I hope your mother was successful on her diet!
she wasn’t successful! hahaha!
Katharina, it’s a good assumption that when you go on the diet, your tastebuds go on a strike.
Nutrisystem though has been trying to make ammends for bland diet food by increasing their portions and hiring professional chefs to tempt the tastebuds into being happy again.
I have thought about trying Nutri System but I often wonder about the preservatives and sodium. I rarely eat frozen meals because of the sodium content.
I think you can order Jenny Craig foods online and have them delivered. I think the also send the education modules and videos as well.
I didn’t really think that they were more expensive just was curious as to after you are done buying their food does the weight stay off when you are buying your own? Thanks
So how long do they recommend that you stay on their diet? Is it something that they want you to stay on long-term, or is it hard to keep the weight off afterwards?
EviesEarth, thank god Weight Watchers is on line now!
I remember the time when I was on that program and I had to go to their weekly meetings. It was a really bizarre version of *hi, my name is Sharon and I love to eat chocolate*.
Well, at least now, you can do that on line and not have to face a chorus of *hi sharon*’s back….
Katharina, Jenny Craig is also online and if I’m not mistaken it’s http://www.jennycraig.com.
I like Jenny Craig too….
Yes, that’s where I looked before… and just now again. Either I’m totally blind or they’re still not selling the food online like NutriSystem does.
I see the “food” section but it’s just saying what they have available and I see no place to order. Am I missing it?
I am sure that I would really love nutrisystem – I wouldn’t have to spend so much time on meal planning and preperation, but the thing is that this type of diet would only allow me to buy food for me. What about my kids? I have to still feed them and cook for them. And if I wanted to put them on the diet, then I would have to buy the same foods for them too, and that would just be way too expensive.
That’s a really good point, trick r treat, I don’t think it’s necessarily a good idea for those with families. Otherwise it would just get way too expensive.
It is hard to have diet foods when you have a family at home. I remember my mom doing one of those diets (Nutrisystem) and my brother and I always wanted to try her foods.
With NutriSystem, you can order what you want… you can order just 14 breakfasts and 14 lunches if that’s what you choose. I ordered all the meals and snacks when I did it, but when I didn’t want to have the dinners, I just ate what everyone else ate and made it work. I eventually had those dinners for lunches when I ran out of lunch food.
Janus LOL! I hope she tried something else.
Diamond, I’m not so sure about the sodium content for Nutrisystem. Maybe you can visit their website to see if they itemize the average sodium content on each package.
Or you can always check out epinions.com. You might find more information there.
SageMother, I think most food programs nowadays send you additional materials to make you understand that it’s not all about the food that ’s going to make you lose weight.
Tater03, it’s a good starting point for anyone who wants to go on a diet having controlled portions for eating. Some dieters stay on it a lifetime….
But once you get off, you need to make sure that you don’t go back eating all the bad stuff. Or you will gain your weight back.
Jewel, I think what happens is that they take your information down and how much pounds you want to lose.
Based on that they’ll put together a menu plan to accomodate your new daily calorie intake.
It is guaranteed to make you lose weight, as long as you stick with what you’re supposed to do.
I don’t really recommend this to people who do not have the willpower to lose weight because that won’t work either!
I understand how it works, but what about after you end their plan? It doesn’t seem like something you should rely on for the rest of your life. How well does the diet train people to eat smaller portions of normal foods for when they are done?
Katharina, I haven’t been to their website but I am almost positive they sell their food online.
Their spokesperson is Kirstie Alley right?
Trick-r-treat, not that’s a really *tricky* question.
Do your kids also need to go on a diet?
Well it’s Valerie Bertinelli also… I’m not sure if it’s both she and Kirstie or if she took over. And about selling food online… I sure wish someone could tell me where to find it.:-)
I never have trouble finding anything and I’ve been online for 12 years… but I just can’t see where JC sells food like NS does.
I heard that they were going to kick Kirstie Alley off as spokeswoman because her weight is fluctuating more than they would like it to.
Jewel, I do have friends that somehow manage it.
One of my girlfriends was a fitness trainer for over 10 years and she has the special food that she eats, and she feeds her kids a more nutritious meal.
Don’t know how she’s been able to juggle it.
EviesEarth, LOL! Did you like them? I would think that would go with the *brocolli* and the *carrots* and god knows what else I hated when I was a kid.
Katharina, what do you think of the food?
Jewel, the plan is that you are supposed to lose a certain amount of weight from the meal plan.
And then, you have to make sure that you join their support groups and read up on how to maintain your diet after you’ve lost the weight.
For most part, as a dieter you should never stick to just one plan because you will reach your weight loss plateau if you don’t mix it up.
So once you have a lost the initial weight, you move on to a different method to lose more.
Katharina, here’s the link to Jenny Craig – http://www.jennycraig.com/
Did you know Queen Latifah is their newest spokesperson??
Jewel, thanks for bringing that up!
I went to Jenny Craig’s website and there is not trace of Kirstie there, just Valerie and Queen Latifah.
I feel so sorry for Kirstie. Wow, she couldn’t even make a proper go with this *gig* either!
