Obviously, I’m seeing this about a year late. However, heart week is coming back up. I love that it gets so much publicity. Awareness helps so much.

SageMother, I think it’s also because the awareness with the public has not reached the level that breast cancer awareness has.

So when we find a lump in our breast, we go straight to the doctor to find out what is wrong with it.

But when we have heart palpitations sometimes we just blame a strenuous workout, heartburn or even not enough sleep. We don’t place an immediate importance to going to the doctor for these.

And it’s a good thing that they are promoting the awareness now.

Most women have died of heart disease because doctors treated them differently than men. Women were encouraged to look at their emotional state when the suffered the discomforts that are now associated with heart problems in women.

IF truth be told, in the absene of other halth issues, most people will develop some form of heart disease as an artifact of aging. It is good that doctors are now taking it more seriously in women, but I truly do not feel that it is on the rise. It is actually being diagnose properly.

Trick-r-treat, foundations and research have been around for a long time.

Now, their national ad campaign is more aggressive towards the education of women by aligning themselves with celebrities.

Tater03, that’s so true. Heart Disease is one of the top killers for women. We must really take care of ourselves to our fullest ability.

Carmi, my father passed away some years ago from having a heart complication. And this is a foundation that I truly support.

It’s good to raise awareness if you have the ability to make people stop and take notice.

I had not heard of this. I was just as surprised to read that more women die from this then anything else. I never even knew that. I wish I had seen this before the 1st of the month.

This is inspiring. I had no idea that this even was even going on, but rest assured I’m going to dig out my biggest, baddest red outfit for this Friday.

My dad suffers from coronary disease, and had had the last decade+ of his life marked by it. In many ways, so have we, as it has shaped our relationship in so many ways. How heartening to see so many people coming together to raise awareness.
