Sounds like its guaranteed to give me immediate indigestion, a lifetime of clogged arteries, and death before I ever hit 45 years old. Folks, this is definitely not made for daily consumption. Gotta love those folks at SupersizeMeals.com hamming it up for the camera.
Since McDonald’s first opened shop in 1941, the phenomenon of fast food has become one of the most popular subcultures created by the 20th century. There is never a small excuse to hit the closest joint - forgot to pack lunch, don’t have time to make dinner, just need something quick…..
So, when you buy a burger, do you ever just eat a burger? Of course not! What’s a Big Mac (540 calories) without coke (50 calories) and large fries (570 calories)? And maybe an apple pie (270 calories) afterwards. This 30 minute fast food run just earned you a good whopping 1500 calories! That’s 75% of the 2000 daily calorie recommendation of the USDA.
Remember Michael Moore and his quest to save America from our fast food habits? He ate 3 full meals daily for 30 days in his documentary film Supersize Me. That’s a daily consumption of approximately 4500 calories and 135000 for the full 30 days. No wonder obesity has reached an epidemic.
Being informed is the best resource you can find when you are on a diet. It’s not 100% necessary to cut out all the burgers from your daily menu. Just know how to schedule the rest of your food plan around it in order to achieve your desired weight goal. Moderation is the key.
Here are the nutritional guidelines of the top burger joints:
McDonalds
Wendy’s
Burger King
Jack In The Box
Dairy Queen
Hardees
Sonics
In-n-Out
Carl’s Jr.
No nutritional guides available:
Checkers, Fat Burger, White Castle
I’m sure I’ve missed out a few, so feel free to contribute their nutritional guides to this list!

Thanks for dropping by!
A slight correction Supersize me was done by Morgan Spurlock. It was an excellent documentary.
Well I don’t eat at fast food restaurants so I don’t buy their burgers or anything else, lol. It’s hard to find anything of nutritional value there, and I know I can do better making it myself.
I tend to disagree I think in order to be healthy you should not eat fast food burgers daily.
Showing people that there are healthier options available that are nutritional and delicious, at times, can be challenging but it can be done.

Oh my! Now that’s what I call a burger!!!!
So you like your Hardwood floors? I liked mine okay, but to me, they seem extra work. I can just vacuum my carpet, but the wood floors have to be swept and scrubbed and they seem to wear more quickly. Of course, the carpets have all that dust…and boy is it hard to get playdough out of carpet!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
lol my first thought was, is it really a real burger. fun picture

I haven’t had a beefburger for over 2 years (or any beef for that matter). It would make a nice ornament though

I haven’t eaten a fast food burger in years.
The last time I went into a burger place, I saw one of the fellows in the back, putting the burgers together. He had a face that was filled with acne pustules and I just couldn’t get that image of his face looking down at a burger I might eat. Who knows what might be falling from his face onto bread or lettuce!

Now that is one huge hamburger. I mean how in the world would anyone eat that? Even if you shared that is just huge. Would be something to see if ever in the area though.
That one takes the notion of super-sized to a whole new level. Talk about a “Whopper”! You know, with all the beef recalls I haven’t had a craving for a burger in ages. Even when I was eating them, it was only on occasion. Those made at home (okay, *mine* ) were like leather. I’m not known for my culinary prowess. The burger thing is “product driven” though. Along with the burger, fries were a must. Maybe some onion rings. A shake. Definitely a ton of condiments. Ultimately, an invite for indigestion. You know what I really enjoy? A lobster burger, or an oyster burger. Those are delish, though I don’t have them other than seasonally when I visit the coast. Can you tell I’m getting ravenous? I must cease to babble now!

There’s moderation in this fast food craze as with anything else. I very rarely get one of the big burgers… maybe while on vacation once or twice a year. Other times when we do stop at fast food, I get a regular burger or a chicken sandwich.
I don’t add calories with the drink because it’s coffee or diet soft drink. A regular burger at McD’s is (I think) under 300 calories. Fries would really add the cals on, but I don’t order them. Moderation.
I have never heard of a lobster or oyster burger. I would have never thought of that kind of a combination. Maybe someday I can try one. Sure sounds different.
I like a nice hamburger, but rarely, about once a month, go out to a fast food joint. I normally make my burgers at home and eat them.
I think a Whopper has about 1500 calories without adding French fries and drink. Just about the only way to come out ahead is to cut it into smaller pieces and eat it throughout a day or eat a piece for lunch for 3 days!

Oooh, that oyster burger sounds fabulous! I have had a fried oyster sandwich with breaded oysters, homemade tartar sauce, etc… is it like that or something different?
I don’t care for the fast food burgers at all. Now I love a nice homecooked burger so much more. I have always liked the thicker one rather than the thin ones.
Portabella Mushrooms are great burger substitutes. Sauteed with some onions and on a bed of lettuce with a tomato, a little cheese can be added but the mushroom really tastes great.

Opal, you’re right. I should have reworded it, as perhaps,
It’s not 100% necessary to cut out all the burgers from your meal plan.
Can you imagine, if we all ate burgers every day from fast food restaurants?
Hi Melissa.
Doesn’t the burger look like one of those plastic doughs that you get with your plastic playhouse set?
I love my hardwood. I have one of those robo gizmos that just zip around the house that takes care of all of the dust. And we have to do that on a daily basis! Carpets just seem to absorb everything yicky and yucky.
Andy, that’s so funny. And where would you plan to hang your burger ornament?
Well, I guess it’s better than having bull heads on the wall….
SageMother, LOL!
Every single time I make it to the US for an extended stay like a business trip, I always stay away from the fast food burger joints. You are right, who knows, what mind up falling on your burger.
Did you eat it?
Samantha, I hope Santa’s listening to you. Because I’ve been real good. And I’m keeping tabs of all the *goodness* I’ve been doing.
I know I deserve what I want on my Christmas list a mile and a half long.
Same to you too!
Katharina, I think the burger itself is fine. It’s when you start adding the fries, or the onion rings, the pop, and probably the apple pie after that will really take a toll on your body!
Fortunately I have got into the habit of only ordering the hamburger and a small iced tea. Taking out the fries seems to make me feel a lot better after eating!
3Plus3, let me know when you are having burger night. I’d *love* to come by!
SageMother, yuck! That would be about two days of soggy burger!
Okay, so that’s enough for me not to eat it….
Katharina, who’s having an oyster burger? And am I invited?
That sounds so delicious!
Samantha, where do you live? We’d like to come over
Tater03, I also love home cooked hamburger meals with a huge patty. I love mixing in grated ginger, carrots, onions to make it just a tad healthier. Then dump a whole lot of barbeque sauce while I am cooking them.
Yum. I think I’ll have that for lunch!
SageMother, wow, looks like I’m going to have to make house calls at all the diva’s commenters.
It seems that there’s a lot of good food being cooked around…..
Erika-Nicole, I thought the same thing too when I first saw the picture over at SupersizedMeals.com. So I wrote them a little letter to see if it really way. And they said it’s the real thing!
Doesn’t it look like the little burger set that you get when you buy one of those play kitchen sets? Supersized of course.
Sorry for the delay on the Link Love. We’ve been moving to our own servers and it’s been a lot of *pain*.
I noticed also a couple of articles that I will add to the sidebar.
Jewel, come to think of it, I prefer to have the fries and drink without the burger.
