At first it was all about the wonderful presents that Santa left under the tree, but as I grew older, I realized the holiday season is a great time to catch up with family and old friends.
This year, that is exactly what I promised myself to do.
I planned my social calendar between the last two weeks of December to accommodate each invite, and with a little bit of juggling here and there, I was so excited at being able to fit everyone in.
Facebook Reunions…. Friend Get Togethers….. Family Parties….. It definitely has been a whirlwind of soirees and all the holiday merriment has gone to all the places it shouldn’t, like my *thighs and hips*. I know I’ve given my good ol’ digestive system a shock!
Even the *munchie monster* has decided to join in with the festivities since I’ve had a lot of free time lately to contemplate on other things aside from blogging because of my server outages. Being stuck at home with nothing else to do aside from brood over how I can extract a slow and painful death to my old hosting company, snacking was fast becoming a favourite past time.
And that sexy, slinky silver dress that I bought for New Year’s Eve? Well, I can almost hear it screech at me *I hope you are not planning to wear me with that!* every single time I open the closet.
How am I going to survive the next four days?

Thanks for dropping by!
It’s the same for me this year. I didn’t even wait for the last two weeks of the month… I started right after Thanksgiving with the planning and festivities. I have now buckled down and need to get back to normal.
I hope the slinky silver will be forgiving and fit great!
I am fortunate that my clothing is still fitting!
Contrary to what many experts say I believe that the holidays are THE time to diet or at least be extremely conscious of what passes the lips. It really saves trouble later in the New Year!
SageMother’s last blog post..Happy Holidays!
See I am terrible about watching what I eat during the holiday’s. That being said I had a cold this year so I think that might have actually helped me not to eat as much.
SageMother, tell me about it!
I now have to get myself another dress for New Years!
Tater03, I hope you are feeling better.
Having a cold can really put you off eating sometimes. Although that *rarely* happens to me, as I find being sick as another reason to munch more.
I have been really good this year! My baby is almost 8 months old and I have been trying really hard to get back to prebaby size.
We, too, cook a lot of super yummy food during our religious celebrations, and gather with family, neighbors and friends, but I never experienced weight fluctuation to the extent of not fitting clothes.
But then again, we have one month during the year, during which we fast. Most people seize this opportunity to diet, even though others consider it suitable to over eat to gratify themselves for fasting all day.
Happy holidays everyone!
Yes, thank you I am feeling much better now. I just hate being sick over the holiday’s. There were actually a couple of things that I love to eat over the holiday’s that I just couldn’t bring myself to eat.
EvieEarth, my girlfriend is also is trying to lose weight after having a baby a year ago.
She said it was the hardest trying to put together time for her, much less a workout schedule, during the first three months.
Good luck on your weight loss!
yes, the first couple of months are a real blur. I have not really been on a strict workout schedule, I exercise when I can. Then again, with 3 little ones, just about everyday is a workout. LOL
I hear you there. I have two young sons and I think I get a pretty good workout keeping up with them, especially in the summertime.
Well, 2008 is here and so far I’m feeling confident about keeping up with my new “healthier me” program. How are the rest of you doing?
Lalla Mira, now I really call that a very good balance.
I actually have a very funny story about fasting. Growing up, my father’s family has this tradition of leaving all the kids with one parent during the summertime so that the grown ups can go for a holiday.
One time, they left us with an uncle who decided it was time we all fasted *perhaps he didn’t like the idea of having to feed all of us :)* during the three weeks we were left at his care.
Needless to say, that was the last time we were ever left with him.
Tater03, I know how you feel. Holidays 2006 I was sick as a dog for almost two months because I caught a cold and a flu back to back.
Even just the smell of food was enough to get me to go into hiding.
I am glad you are feeling better!
Retro clothing is the bomb! My favorite place to find it is Goodwill or any thrift store. Ebay is also a great place to find what you are looking for.
EviesEarth, I’m sure it’s a real balancing act.
When I eventually start a family, I’m looking forward the long walks, hiking and camping with the little ones.
Tater03, I personally would prefer to be doing anything else in the summertime instead of heading towards the gym.
Katharina, my diet and exercise program this year is going to be real *kick ass*.
I’ve been doing two days on and one day off. How is yours doing?
I am terrible about trying to lose weight, it is like I sabatoge myself. The minute I try a diet or just a healthier way of eating, all I can think of is junk. UGH
3Plus3, doesn’t it always work that way?
