*anything that looks like you had to kill something to make it, is not fashion couture*
Sad to say, I am so very disappointed at one of the best diva of all times – Vanessa Williams.
The Emmy Awards historically has been a source of frivoulous competition between the clothing designers, and you won’t believe what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to wooing the right celebrity to wear their show dresses. There is no stopping creativity, passion and imagination when putting together some of these one-of-a-kind dresses.
But feather dresses?
I’m sure Valentino and Chanel came knocking. What happened?
I just can’t imagine the amount of fur balls she unleashed on her fellow guests…….

I agree that “*anything that looks like you had to kill something to make it, is not fashion couture*”.
I usually think that Vanessa Williams looks stunning, and she does shine through the dress, I just wish that she had made a better selection.
Vanessa Williams – How Did She Get It All Wrong?…
What did I say about Feather Dresses again?

Have we become so removed from the life cycle that we have forgotten that people have worn animal skins for protection and that even plants die when harvested for their fiber content?
Now I am not a fan of feathered dresses, but some balance is still needed, even in the fashion industry. Humans have always worn the skins of other beasties as clothing!
She probably wasn’t in her usual right mind when she chose this dress.
It could have been a cleaning day for her that’s why she confused two ideas all at once.
It somehow reminds me of that dusting equipment for some odd reason though.

Jewel, I also think Vanessa Williams could have done a lot better than her choice.
SageMother, fashion has always given us a lot of choices when it comes to our clothing. And you are right, we have been known to wear animal skins and I myself, have a lot of adornments made of leather that I absolutely adore.
However, I think this calls for moderation, and that’s why I used that phrase in the post.
I just bet some designer BEGGED Vanessa to wear that gown! So often, a designer will talk a star into wearing something hideous so that their name will at least be spoken.
This dress is really, really ugly. I am sorry to say, but good grief, what was wrong with her?
i don’t know the first thing about fashion and even I think it’s ghastly!

Whoa. That really is not a good look on ANYone. It’s so…showgirl. Looks terrible especially in that shade of green.
3Plus3, all I can say … FURBALLS …. FURBALLS…. If you’ve ever had a cat, you would understand.
Maybe we’re all missing the metaphor in these feather dresses — perhaps they are meant to imply that you can take flight and soar to new (fashion) heights when you wear them! Yes, I jest. I think they look rather tacky though I’m sure it’s high priced tacky! I think these feather duster dresses are on the endangered species list. Blink and the trend will be gone. That’s a good thing.
Jon, beautiful and ghastly. What a combination! She shouldn’t have left the house.
You’re so right Ninikins! It’s too *showgirly* and I think that’s why it doesn’t work. Vanessa Williams is more of a classic traditional beauty. I’m so surprised she took this outfit when most couture designers were probably sending her their best.
True enough, I never thought of it as a “show girl” custom but it definitely has that feel.

Samantha LOL! As if. I’d blink that this hideous trend will still be around.
Don’t get me wrong, being different than the pack has always been something the celebrities look for. But taking flight on a new fashion trend that makes you look like you are really migrating south for the winter is a totally different story!
Jon, definitely! All we are missing is the plummed hat and a rendition of leg kicking Charleston.
It’s amazing how 52% hate it sounds so much worse than 55% love it

I just wanted to make a comment about the statistics on the article. I think it’s very misleading, the point they are trying to make. The fact that “57% HATE IT!” means that almost half of the people actually liked it.
Sarakastic, funny. No big difference there.
I’d love to have a spread of me on the red carpet saying 99.9% loved it…
Jewel, almost …..
I guess they take the poll online on their site. It actually could have been such a fantastic eye catching gown. I just don’t think feather dresses should be allowed out to roam the streets…
Just amazaing, I hated her in it. No one shoud wear feathers. Look what happenend to Byonce a few years back?
Echos, and they still don’t learn
