Since my chance meeting with Andy’s MyBlogLogDogg, I was determined to keep him my *best kept secret*. He has all these awesome blog toys….. and I wasn’t sure that I wanted to share his knowledge yet with anyone else, because, really, I found him first.
*I know I’m being greedy*
But, Andy’s determined to conquer the web, and I have to say…. there is no stopping him.
If you haven’t noticed yet, I have a new plugin installed called CommentLuv. Courtesy, of course, of Andy. What this plugin does, is it automatically reads your RSS feeds and displays your latest blog post right after your comment. And if you haven’t figured out by now, this man’s a genius! He has singlehandedly discovered a solution to the age old problem of not getting enough commenters on your blog. Even if I wanted to keep him a secret, there is no way I can do that now because he has revolutionized blogging as we see it today. He’s still in the testing stage, so you will have to ask Andy if you can have CommentLuv.

So I might as well come clean as to what other goodies I’ve picked up from him ….. I’ve learned how to develop my own plugin, downloaded another awesome plugin called Hello Stumbler *a must to get stumbleupon hits* and a good laugh over MyBlogLogDogg antics.
Now, there are a lot of people out there that contribute towards the white noise of blog tutorials and it’s not everyday that I do find information that I get excited about. That’s why I am his #1 fan. Thanks for the plugin Andy. Much Luv!

Jon’s post shows his blog title instead of the last post because his feed has an image at the top with the title and link of his blog after the frist title and link to his blog at the top so the plugin thinks the second title is the last post

Interesting, I haven’t gotten the whole concept of blogging yet, but will save this information for the future.
hiya, there is an update to the plugin so it doesn’t parse the admins feed when replying to comments.
you can download it in the same place as before.
it sometimes wont show the last post if it takes too long to parse the comment authors feed, I think it’s better to not have the comment author waiting around too long for the comment to show, nobody likes a long wait to see their own text!

3Plus3, when you do get your blog started, make sure to use Wordpress because it just makes it awhole lot easier.
This plugin that Andy developed is only available to Wordpress users. Just yell if you need any help setting up your blog.

sorry Diva, another update for the plugin.
it now doesn’t parse the feed for trackbacks which is something that gave me a headache to fix until just now when an intense search of the wordpress code docs revealed a way that could help.
it’s at version 0.8 now and it’s as stable as a place with horses and hay. thanks so much for helping me to test it here!

it might not be showing mira’s feed because it is probably taking too long for thedivanetwork server to connect to the mira server.
mira, your feed gets shown on my blog so I think it’s just a “distance between servers” issue.

There’s just something hella sexy about a man walking his dog. Maybe it’s the whole ‘good with animals and children’ thing or maybe it’s because you realize that he isn’t afraid of the responsibility that comes with having another living being dependent on him. But one thing is for sure. The uglier the dog – the sexier the guy seems.

Lalla Mira, I think I might have found your problem. What is your raw rss feed address? I’m not talking about your feedburner feed url, but the actual rss url that wordpress assigns to you automatically.
That should be: http://www.lalla-mira.com/feed/
And I don’t understand why I started using feedburner while WP offers a feed automatically. Nothing new was added!
I just deactivated feedburner, let’s see if my CL works here now.

Lalla Mira, I am almost positive I have figured out the problem.
Wordpress Generator RSS 2.0 will not parse alphabet characters that is not in English. I went through all the messages you left me on my blog, and compared it to the times that you were not parsing. You were only parsing when your title characters were in English 100%. When you add the arabic characters, that’s when I noticed you were not parsing. I also looked at your feed, and I noticed rss 2.0 is not reading the arabic characters properly. It’s giving you a really funny feed that looks like:
http://www.lalla-mira.com/2007/10/12/happy-3id-el-fitr-%d8%b9%d9%8a%d8%af-%d9%81%d8%b7%d8%b1af/feed/
When, normally feeds will look like this:
http://www.lalla-mira.com/2007/10/09/littlest-angel/feed/
I’ve seen questions floating around Wordpress support asking for a solution to this problem.
I betcha, if you put a test post with a 100% English title and come back to leave a comment here, you will parse with no problem.
That’s interesting Sharon! But I believe I started having troubles with my feed and CL before I started having titles in Arabic. As a matter of fact, this is only the second time I post an entry with Arabic in its title.
Do you think that feedburner was part of the problem as well?
It’s late for me right now, I am heading to bed soon. As soon as I post something on my blog tomorrow, I’ll come around for a test.

No, I don’t think Feedburner is the problem. Andy uses it with the same redirect and his parses really well.
I compared the times you posted on my site to the times you weren’t parsing. The times you weren’t parsing is because you had the arabic alphabet content.
The reason why I asked for your feed is because I wanted to read the script of codes to see if there was anything strange happening to it.
Maybe I am wrong. We’ll see….
Sharon, CL decided to work all alone on Andy’s blog a while ago. I didn’t change anything in my feed since I deactivated feedburner yesterday.
Let’s see if it works here too!

I think the plugin will parse your feed here soon, it takes a while sometimes for your feed link to be updated to the new clean version in some places..
another reason for you to keep coming back to The Diva to comment!

it seems to work at my place now for Mira, do you have version 0.96 of CL running here? if you have, mira’s feed may just take a few hours to take full effect…

I just downloaded this plugin but sadly it doesn’t work on my blog, it freezes my blog whenever someone enters a comment. This is a great idea but bad for wordpress 2.0 users.

Domestic Diva, I’ve really had no problems with the plugin and Andy has been a lot of help because he just keeps on wanting to perfect it over and over again.
Maybe you should have a chat with him to find out why it’s causing to freeze your site. Maybe there is another plugin that is interfering with it or vice versa….
