Rosie O’Donnell Celebrity Detox

I know once upon a time I was a really big fan of Rosie O’Donnell. A few comedians have been able to pull what she’s done in her lifetime - blockbuster film roles, an Emmy Award daytime talk show, charitable foundations and contributions, Rosie’s Broadway Kids… She’s somehow been put in the backburner in my personal celebrity list since the time she moved to The View, because believe it or not, I was, and still am, one of those few people who do not really find the show entertaining.

*so what’s so captivating about four women bickering about their stances in life? - I don’t need to tune in to television in order to hear that*

And, I honestly believe that celebrities should stick with what they are good at …… making people escape to another alternate dimensions where everything and anything can happen. What I mean is that, they should leave good ol’ politics be. Whether I share the same views or not about Rosie’s tighter gun controls or that the US should bring their people back from Iraq, is really inconsequential *AND BY THE WAY NOT OPEN FOR DEBATE ON THIS POST*, but her outspokenness on these issues has created a big medium of hostilities around her. Just check these out:

Lately, the general media buzz is painting a much more sourer Rosie O’Donnell *i didn’t think it was possible* with the reviews that are coming out for her upcoming tell-all book Celebrity Detox to be released on October 2nd. It paints Rosie as self-destructive, vindictive *can’t wait to get all the dish about Barbara Walters and Donald Trump* and starved for attention. And why not, when the book talks about “breaking her own limbs, hands and fingers usually, with either a baseball bat or a wooden hanger when she was a child”. Amazon’s forum on this book has gone hogwild crazy with threads such as “anyone who buys this book is a disgrace to share the earth with” “sad & pathetic” and “the publisher already screwed this up“.

I can’t help but wonder, what really is the reality of Rosie O’Donnell, because from the time I started writing this post to where I am at this point, I’ve come across Ro, a blogger worth reading that writes beautiful prose and makes interesting video collages. She blogs about her daily challenges and the people that inspires her, just like you and me. There’s a randomness about her post topics that I find interesting and *worth a link love membership, though Ro might never come by and post a comment here*. You would never have guessed for a moment just from listening and reading that this is the one and the same Rosie O’Donnell.

I have decided that I will never ever buy the book, but she has earned a new found respect from me *bloggers for bloggers*.
