*so what’s so captivating about four women bickering about their stances in life? - I don’t need to tune in to television in order to hear that*
And, I honestly believe that celebrities should stick with what they are good at …… making people escape to another alternate dimensions where everything and anything can happen. What I mean is that, they should leave good ol’ politics be. Whether I share the same views or not about Rosie’s tighter gun controls or that the US should bring their people back from Iraq, is really inconsequential *AND BY THE WAY NOT OPEN FOR DEBATE ON THIS POST*, but her outspokenness on these issues has created a big medium of hostilities around her. Just check these out:
Lately, the general media buzz is painting a much more sourer Rosie O’Donnell *i didn’t think it was possible* with the reviews that are coming out for her upcoming tell-all book Celebrity Detox to be released on October 2nd. It paints Rosie as self-destructive, vindictive *can’t wait to get all the dish about Barbara Walters and Donald Trump* and starved for attention. And why not, when the book talks about “breaking her own limbs, hands and fingers usually, with either a baseball bat or a wooden hanger when she was a child”. Amazon’s forum on this book has gone hogwild crazy with threads such as “anyone who buys this book is a disgrace to share the earth with” “sad & pathetic” and “the publisher already screwed this up“.
I can’t help but wonder, what really is the reality of Rosie O’Donnell, because from the time I started writing this post to where I am at this point, I’ve come across Ro, a blogger worth reading that writes beautiful prose and makes interesting video collages. She blogs about her daily challenges and the people that inspires her, just like you and me. There’s a randomness about her post topics that I find interesting and *worth a link love membership, though Ro might never come by and post a comment here*. You would never have guessed for a moment just from listening and reading that this is the one and the same Rosie O’Donnell.
I have decided that I will never ever buy the book, but she has earned a new found respect from me *bloggers for bloggers*.

Sad & Pathetic, Yet Rosie’s Made Her Millions…
I know once upon a time I was a really big fan of Rosie O’Donnell. A few comedians have been able to pull what she’s done in her lifetime - blockbuster film roles, an Emmy Award daytime talk show, charitable foundations and contributions, Rosie’s…
I loathe her. I find her boorish and embarrassing.
To be honest I liked Rosie until she was on the View. I just feel that it is fine to disagree with someone but she just to me doesn’t go about it the right way at all.
Jon, I think 2000 has marked a new era for Rosie. She was fantastic during her talk show, but when she did leave for a hiatus in 2002, and came to moderate The View, she sounds more radical because of most of the other ultra-conservative views of the other moderators.
Have you visited her site yet? I just love her new post.
Tater03, that’s why The View didn’t really hold too much interest for me. It is a really popular show and I guess I wouldn’t mind tuning in to it once in awhile now that Whoopi Goldberg is there *i’m a big trekkie fan* and I’d like to see how her serene and calmness works on the show.
Rosie actually had a video log about what she thought of the first episode that Whoopi was on The View. It was actually a good watch.
Nope. Sorry. I have a complete moratorium on all things Rosie. All things Rosie, Brittney (once I get the pictures, Hudgens. ;), Lohan, Hilton.
Jon, I think you are one of the few who are now going *to throw pie at me* for writing this article.
I am getting creamed for all its worth at the social bookmarking sites that this has been posted on.
I would never do such a thing! But I’m not surprised at the reaction on the social bookmarking sites.
I used to like Rosie when she had her own television show, but then after that I really haven’t saw her much. I am not a View fan, so I didn’t even watch her on that.
I don’t like the view either. She seems to annoy me now as well.
I enjoy Rosie simply because she adds the flavor that I cannot. Her views are usually in line with mine and I feel that most people don’t like what she says on controversial issues because it takes them right out of their comfort zone, and they don’t want to accept that her views might have more than a tinge of truth.
She cracks me up.
A tinge of truth or the stigma of utter LUNACY? I think the latter.
I don’t have a single friend who minds being challenged as long as that which is asserted is rational and can be substantiated. A rational being Rosie is not and is often wont to provide factual context when baseless, emotional assertions will serve her needs.
.02¢ more.
Jon, I’ve been blasted. There are a lot of people out there who love Rosie.
I am not saying I do or I do not. But, I have to tell you, I love the way she blogs.
3Plus3, I guess this book is going to talk about why she decided to go back to television after she retired from her talk show. I just don’t think she was a good mix, and she did what she was supposed to do…. bring life back to The View.
Hi Ginene! Long time no see. I hope things are going fantastic with your new job.
SageMother, I think she just becomes too controversial because everyone absolutely disagrees with her on the show. And yes, Rosie does have her moments. Whatever possessed her to go on The View???
There was even talk that she was going to sign on for Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump. What if?
I’ve always liked Rosie and still do. I see her as someone who is very ballsy (am I allowed to say that here? LOL), says what she means and means what she says. Sure she has some very strong opinions — agree with her or don’t — your choice. But, ultimately admire her for taking a stance, having a pulse, and not caring whose “face” she’s in in the process of expressing herself.

I’m wondering what pathology Rosie’s writing is indicative of, or whether she’s doing an ee cummings impersonation on her blog! Whatever the case, I hope she’s not headed for a meltdown. I’m feeling sorry for her (in spite of her net worth!).
Karl Marx said what he meant and meant what he said. Stalin, too, took a stance.
P.S. - Chef Jules, your Ravioli Zucca and Shrimp with Sofrito, Peppers and Manchego look mind bendingly delicious.

I have nothing against Rosie. In fact, I think that she makes a lot of good points. I think that she does push things a bit far, but that’s something that I like about her - she’s not scared to.
I found Rosie’s blog to be confusing but a few months ago she was singing to Tina Turner’s “You better be good to me”. This was while she was still on the View, & in that one blog post she seemed like she did when she had her own show, funny, not so angry. I guess I at least her owe her introducing me to a great song.

Ah, but Jon, doesn’t emotion get the best out of us most of the time? We just don’t happen to splatter all over national tv.

Chef Jules, I guess with her daytime show she was absolutely fabulous because even when outspoken, her show was written with all the i’s dotted and the t’s crossed.
But, when she got on the view with all these opposing opinions, she really stuck out like a sore thumb.
I do have much respect for people who can express themselves. Just sometimes, they seem to want to have to fight their way through it when they don’t have to.

Samantha, she does write like it doesn’t she? Quite complete incoherent mumblings, which I find fascinating.
Jon, so what do you think?

Jewel, I think that’s why she’s been in the hot seat a lot lately. She says things that we don’t really like to hear. Kind of the type we just hope we can sweep away behind the door.

Sarakastic, I believe Rosie’s new book is going to give all the information on why she went from being funny to being so angry.
Apparently, there is an excerpt in the book about Barbara Walters telling the audience not to be rude during a commercial interlude because they kept on chanting Rosie’s name.

What The Hell Is Wrong With The View

Lunatics rarely put sentences together, and are rarely a threat to what some would consider the status quo. When people feel threatened enough to call Rosie crazy I think they are so removed form the effects of the reality that she is addressing that they just don’t have the where with all to empathize with alternative views that probably have merit.
Even if you don’t like liberals, you have to remember that the attitudes are more inclusive than the alternatives, when it comes to society in general. I think that encourages cohesion and strengthens a civilization as a whole. That little bit of kindness goes a long way.
I in know way feel threatened by what she believes or says. I just feel that their is a better way of stating your opinions then actual attacks on people.
I completely disagree. I’ve never met a liberal whose “inclusive” attitudes meant being tolerant of a conservative with whom they disagreed. More often than not, as in the case with Rosie, it almost *always* results in some ad hominem attack - at which point, how can you have even a rudimentary argument centered around ideas?
Also, alternative ideas and specious assertions are two different things. A proposed argument has to be defensible and supported by corroborating evidence and facts. Not popular non-science, discredited conspiracy theories and implausible unsubstantiated assertions. When that’s all there is, where’s the threat?

Tater03, no, I have no plans in picking up her book. But I visit her blog regularly. Some people think it’s just a bunch of jibbirish, but I think it’s seriously quite entertaining.
SageMother, Rosie does push her boundaries about what she thinks is *morally* right. I know we all believe in one thing or another, but she sure has made some big waves.
That’s what I mean about celebrities just sticking to what they are good at and leaving good old politics be.
SageMother, you will just have to excuse my husband. He gets too passionate when it comes to his political affiliations.
Tater03, I think The View was *ordered* to be controversial, or why else would they put four women including Barbara Walters to talk about the hot topics in politics.
And you are right, there will always be a better way to say things. But sometimes in the heat of the moment, we end up regretting something we said.
Never understood why so people liked her. She can be funny at times, but she has always been a rude obnoxious know it all..Ugh…
Leighdu, doesn’t that about sum up every celebrity out there though
