Maybe someone could have told me sooner? I just read this today on a press release for the new abdominal exercise machine called the Ab Coaster. 100 crunches a day, religiously exercised five times a week, and the diva *that’s me* still does not have the super fab summer abs that I’ve been working hard since March to get.
“For decades, gymnasts and bodybuilders have achieved great abs by lifting up their lower body with leg lift exercises rather than lifting their upper body with ab crunches. In other words, instead of working their abs from the top-down, these athletes work their abs from the bottom-up. According to Gagnon, this bottom-up lifting technique is ideal for targeting and strengthening the hard-to-reach lower ab region, and is much more effective than a crunch for developing great abs.”
Well, that sounds like a piece of cake.
MENTAL NOTE TO ME: Maybe more shower gymnastics are in order

Now they tell me that crunches don’t work! And here I’ve been doing it for the past god knows how long … oh well, here we go again … LOL!
Thanks Diva, for you comment.
I am very much new to blogging and I thought that the post on `content first’ may appear childish! But now I go giving priority to content, and may be one day will come and prove your words fact. I respect your comment as is an outcome of experience.
he-he-he. Nick, and here I was waiting for the time when I’ll be getting a picture of you with your 6 pack abs
To think that we are both on the same boat …..
Raghavendra, thanks for dropping by.
Just to let you know, I edited your comment because you put your personal email address on it. I will send you an email shortly on the information you are asking for …
You Mean I’ll Never Get My Six Pack Abs That Way?…
Eventhough crunches is a popular method of getting those sexy six pack abs, fitness guru Sean Gagnon says that they are not the most effective. In fact, he says in order to get a lean, slender waistline you need to do the exact opposite of the ab crunc…
Six Pack Abs? At the moment it’s more like 24 flabs instead of packs … LOL!
I need some ladies photos to make me more motivated to do the workouts. I dun want to have 6 packs leh…
I’ve got ONE BIG pack at the tummy now…hehehe ;p
Nick, 24 flabs? Sounds like you’ve been cooking yourself a storm lately …..
Janice, I always put a picture of one of my best friends on my fridge. I just don’t know how she does it. Even when she was pregnant (6 months) she still worked out 3 times a week.
I do lots of cardio and a plain old exercise wheel. I lost them after my daughter was born but thankfully they have returned.
Totally Off Topic
I’m sending you an email it has to do with an advertiser that contacted me about ad placements on Vegan Momma. I knew that was coming eventually just not this soon.
Opal, what is an exercise wheel?
Here’s what an exercise wheel looks like

I also use the exercise ball. I do cardio at least three times per week for about thirty minutes each time.
Does the wheel really do well in getting you decent abs? It looks so simple, compared to all the other contraptions that are available out there. I mean, just look at the Ab Coaster above.
I like doing the exercise ball too because it’s really good for my back and I don’t feel achy breaky the next day.
It was the only thing I used when preparing for competition. Except cardio, it’s the only thing I use now. I usually laugh at the commercials because they make you think you need all the extras to get that look.
How in the world did people manage to get the six pack before all these “must need” inventions came along.
achy breaky? lol now I’m thinking of Achy Breaky Heart!
If we didn’t “need” an extras, a lot of people would go broke…. Just to think of all the crazy stuff I have bought into for the sake of looking good.
At least, one consolation is that, I am not as bad as my sister. I was over at her place last week and she has some more brand new diet stuff that came in the mail. I think they were energy drinks ….. I think she just collects them and stares at them. I have never seen her use them at all.
I think my “extras” would be gaming although after my daughter was born I basically stopped buying games, lol. I do have a lot of shoes but I’ve been good and haven’t bought anything in a while.
About seven years ago I tried an ab machine. The guy I was dating, at the time owned it. It worked. It did the same thing as my exercise wheel it just wasn’t as primitive, lol. He was the one that turned me on to the exercise wheel.
I really have to kudos to your friend for being so active still while preggie. I’m just lazy, being preggie gave me more excuse not to exercise & I can eat & eat…LOL
We have this *contraption* machine in our condo’s gym that my next door neighbor is raving about. But for the life of me, I know it does legs, arms, chest and abs, I don’t know how to use it.
It’s one of those things that have moveable arms and I just don’t know where they go
Janice, I’ve never known any pregnant women that looked as gorgeous as she did while pregnant.
he-he-he. My family background is from the Philippines and we really do come up with the strangest excuses to get together and eat.
I would love to see a picture of a woman who has had children after using that machine for 6 weeks! Looks like there might be good reasons to give it a try!

I wish I would have known that crunches really don’t help. Well I don’t think I will ever see my abs again, lol
I think that crunches do work to some extent, but you can’t just do regular crunches. You have to do several different types, including the one where you bring your knees to your chest instead of the other way around. I found that they were very helpful.
3plus3, I actually ran this by my girlfriend who is a fitness trainer and she said that crunches work and they dont…. just depending on what you are aiming to do with your body.
I actually have been doing interval training and it’s working better!
Jewel, I also do that as part of my interval training. Knee to chest crunches works really well on the lower abs.
I guess you have to work on both the top and lower abs if you want to have that six pack look. Crunches work well for the upper abs.
Unfortunately, some peeople don’t do the lower abs and that’s why they get that weird, weird ab shape.
The Ab Coaster now has a home unit on infomercial for under $400. I have been using one for about 6 weeks now and have unbelievable results. Back feels great, I get cardio too, and nothing has tightened my entire core region anywhere close to this. It is awesome!
Rob, thanks for dropping by and letting us know about the home unit that is now available!
Well- I need something, after five kids I am really seriously considering a tummy tuck.
Michelle, I don’t even have kids and I am already considering a tummy tuck.
I have seen where people who have lost a lot of weight and look outwardly skinny show their bellies and it is really awful, the way the skin hangs! And especially if you have had a c-section, certain muscles have been cut, and you can’t work those anymore. Imagine what having more than one c-section will do to you! That is a big problem for me. I would definitely get a tummy-tuck if I could afford to.
Trick-r-treat, that’s always the case when you lose weight too fast or you can no longer workout the muscles on your abs, you will get hanging skin.
When it comes to a tummy tuck, I’m sure you are not the only woman out there who is considering having the cosmetic surgery done.
