When my fave prima donna, Vanessa Williams, reported last Memorial Day that her one year old Yorkie Enzo had disappeared from her fenced-in home, everyone thought that a celebrity dognapper had broken in and took the puppy….. I guess in a way, that’s a little bit better than thinking that the wild coyotes had taken little Enzo.

Lucky for her, a woman had found him alive and well, running along the streets in Pleasantville. The Lower Hudson Online reported today that the woman brought Enzo in to a vet hospital in Stamford, Connecticut and that was when the local vet found an embedded chip that identified his famous owner!

It is nice that owner and dog were reconciled, and that she didn’t have to hire a pet detective and PR firm to find him (former tabloid publisher Gus Chandler and missing Gus, a blond dachshund). But I can’t help wonder how many dog owners out there really get their pooches skin embedded with a digital chip?
