Swiss traffic officials are trying to stop men using women’s parking spaces by painting them pink.
Bern council are tired of hearing complaints about men taking spaces reserved for women, and have decided pink paint and floral designs could solve the problem.
Bjorn Rohrbach, managing director of a car park in Bern, said: “Legally, we can’t stop men from using women’s parking spaces. And telling them off didn’t work either.” Bjorn insists male drivers will be too embarrassed to use pink parking spaces.

It’s been my experience that most people will park ANYWHERE if it cuts down on their walking time. I see people with no disability whatsoever pull into handicapped parking spaces all the time.
Besides, I’m not sure I get the whole idea behind gender segregated parking. What’s up with that?
Calypso, I know what’s up with that? I picked this article up from one of my press release service and I was just thinking what kind of parking lot will require segregated gender parking?
I tried researching it on the net before I ran this story and I couldn’t find any additional informaton.
Got any thoughts? Suggestions?
Shopping Mall perhaps? Women get to park closer so that they can get into shopping faster?
I can’t imagine why they would have special parking places for women. I know that a local grocery store had mommy parking, but just regular women’s parking sounds kind of funny to me.
The more I think of it, it must be the women’s lib building….
