Herbicides against weeds, pesticides against insects, fast-acting enzymes to promote growth; all are used regularly in food growing. Ultimately, tiny quantities end up in the food we eat. But our bodies do not need pesticides etc to help it function – quite the reverse! Hence the ever-increasing negative reactions in people; respiratory and allergy problems are all very much on the increase.
So how can you be sure that what you and your family eat is all you want to eat? The easiest way is to control how the plants you eat are grown – Grow Your Own (G.Y.O.).
Growing healthy, organic fruit and vegetables is not difficult. It doesn’t need a lot of space and is really good fun. The latest research is showing that modern fresh food has less than 50% of the vitamins and trace elements than the same fruit and vegetables grown by our grandfathers. These are just the things we DO need. Organic food will give you the added bonuses of real freshness (not the 3+ days-old “freshness” of the supermarkets) and added flavour,
If you do nothing more than plant a couple of pots of herbs by the kitchen door, do it today. Join a growing number (forgive the pun) of discerning people now growing their own truly fresh food.

No, I have taken the decision to buy local and free range wherever possible. I would rathe buy fresh from the farm shop or the farmer’s market than buy expensive organic stuff from the supermarket that has travelled across the world.
I try to eat a variety of items. Some are organic and some are not.
I am more concerned with hidden dairy products.
This is why I am starting a container garden this year. I want to grow a few of the veggies that I eat often.
I grow herbs but dont have the time or inclination to plant potatoes… I buy locally produced veg, and that’s about it.
No, I don’t eat organic. I would rather eat localy grown welfare friendy products from our local farm shop. I know where it came from and how they were produced.
I don’t buy organic. I buy from the local farmers market or from the farm shop.
I think growing your own is a great idea and we want to start doing more of that.
I don’t buy often from the organic section of the grocery store… but I do buy local produce which is organic, too.
I don’t want to grow my own, I don’t have the time and I hate gardening. Anyway I am supporting my local businesses.
Kernow I am a rubbish gardener too, I would not enjoy growing my own fruit or veg either.
