Katharina, makes me very *very* envious.

I had to make my way in this world and eventhough I had a lot of help from my parents, it sure would have been nice to have a steady source of cash flow

Sadness for children who have nothing doesn’t change their circumstances, but action does. Perhaps it would be better to work toward reestablishing some the safety nets for the poor, and the middle class, that have been swept away by the wealthy.

This may sound extremely terse, but feeling sad seems entirely too passive with everything we have happening to our way of life, which can be directly traced to people expressing feelings, then doing nothing to change things.

have a problem with the use of the term “sad”. Maybe it is just that I tend to be a bit more outspoken ot forceful when things like this hit the news. It isn’t something that makes me sad.

If nothing else, Tom Cruise is now a Hollywood big wig. I am sure his child isn’t the first to get tons of presents by companies hoping they can garner favor with him. I see no thing sad about this at all.

If anything, it should be a reminder to all of us that the wealthy live differently and their expectations travel in a different cosmos.

The next time a wealthy person, who will probably be a senator or your president, starts talking about what is best for the “people” remember he isn’t talking about the other wealthy people. He is talking about those who live without privilege.

The last think we need to be, is sad for Suri.

I *so* agree! Suri is delightful (and I couldn’t believe it’s been a year already!) but her family can give her whatever she wants and needs and so many children have nothing.

I completely agree with this comment. This child is being treated almost like a heavenly being, and she does not have anything other than famous parents. Let her grow up, and decide for herself what and who she wants to be.

Of course I wish Suri Cruise a delightful birthday and the best of everything in the years to come.

But it makes me sad, seeing stores heap so many presents on this little girl whose parents can afford to buy her anything.

Why not give those toys and clothes to a homeless shelter or children't hospital where people who can't afford to buy their kids such nice things can benefit?
