Your skin type largely determines the kind of skin care regimen you need to follow, the products you should use and the overall precautionary care you should use, whether it is oily, dry, normal or combination skin you have.

To know your skin type, you can do a simple self-test that should be done the first thing in the morning after you get up from sleep. To do this, take a dry tissue and wipe your face carefully but thoroughly. If you see some oil on the tissue, you definitely have an oily skin. Similarly, if you find grease only on the centre panel, this implies that you have a combination skin, with an oily T-zone.

In case the tissue comes out clean then you have a dry or normal skin. To end, you will know that you a dry skin if your skin is left feeling too tight, taut or overstretched.

I've read that some of the people here may have issues with the fact that people may have a budget issue. May I suggest that one would only need 3 major products and a regiman of anti-oxidants to eleviate blemishes and bad skin. The first thing I would do is get a good cleanser that has micro-abrasives in it. That way it would lightly scrape away dead skin. The 2nd is a wash. This helps in clearing up pores and washes away any residue. The 3rd is a light creme who's primary purpose is to add anti-oxidants and moisturizes the skin. The combination of these 3 types of products (brand is not an issue here) on a daily basis before applying makeup in the morning and right before going to bed after taking the makeup off. It may not be a 10-step process of getting celebrity-type skin, but this will definitely do the trick when it comes to slowing down the rate of aging to one's skin.

While all of these products sound luscious, they would be quite out of range pricewise. I am all for helping my face through diet, drinking water and exercise, though!

These are great tips, but for someone on a strict budget, like me, they might not work so well.
