Went on my Honeymoon to Bora Bora (8 days)in 2001. Also Vacationed in Bora Bora and Moorea in 1986. I’ll give Bora Bora a 10+ , but only if you want a romantic, no hassle, quiet Honeymoon. We went SCUBA diving-shark feeding and swam within 20 feet of GIANT Manta Rays who glided by above us, 1/2 day catamaran excursion. BB is completely surrouned by coral reef so inside the lagoon is like being in a giant aquarium. If you don’t dive take a snorkle trip to swim with the tropical fish (we did that too). Spend a day walking around the island. I brought 2 inflatible rafts bought at home at sportign goods store before leaving. SMART idea. The food in French Polenesia is supervised by the french food police :-), so all food everywhere was good. Food at our hotel, Le Meridien, was Outstanding! Best deal was room with food plan (B’fast & Dinner). Believe it or not the Buffet dinner had AYCE Lobster and Rack of lamb. Ate at buffet 5 nights our of 7. Oh yeah, bring a very special bottle of Champagne to share by the Lagoon after dinner under the full moon. You’ll be glad you did. Tahitians do not accept tips. They feel it is an insult. I had to be very persistant to get a worker to accept a gift from my wife and myself.
